Nickela Loses 24 Pounds in 3 Months With Online Personal Training
Who is Nickela?
Nickela is a busy mother of three that works and takes care of her kids; when she can sneak away from the noise of her busy life she’s an avid crafter – a real supermom. Aside from being a great mom, a few characteristics to describe her would be determined and passionate.
Why did Nickela start with OverHaul Fitness?
Nickela was intrigued when one of her friends started working with OverHaul Fitness. She was inspired by her friend’s success and thought she’d give it a shot. Ultimately, Nickela wanted to get healthier and stronger and thought it was time to start putting herself first and thought this might be a good place to start.
Nickela’s Success:
Down 24 lbs in 3 months
Nickela reached her initial goal of 135lb in 3 months, a weight she picked as an initial goal as this was the weight she was before having kids.
Nickela’s biggest obstacle(s):
One of her biggest obstacles was her mindset. She had this idea that she just couldn’t do it and that’d she’d never be the type of person that did weight training and exercised regularly. This was further deepened by lack of knowledge of how to properly do weight training and knowing its benefits.
Another obstacle she had was prioritizing her health; she was putting her health on the back burner and putting her kids and everything else first. She found it hard to justify taking the time to work on herself. This resulted in lack of motivation to even try.
One thing no one knows about Nickela:
Nickela has an extensive stash of Yarn, she describes it as a SABLE: Stash Aquisition Beyond Life Expectancy (see picture at the start).
What is one dream or aspiration Nickela wants to achieve in the next 5 years?
- Train and run the full marathon in the Edmonton August Marathon.
- Still be exercising consistently 5 years from now.
Key’s to Nickela’s success
- Her love of running as a mental break and escape, and tracking her food intake via MyFitnessPal
- Believing in herself and accepting that she can change anything in her life. As mentioned before, Nickela never saw herself as someone that did weight training and exercised regularly. But, now that she has, she doesn’t ever want to stop because of all the benefits and how she feels; one of the benefits is being a positive role model for her kids and showing them that exercise is important.
- Being present and not focusing on the past, or the future too much – just do what you can each day and continue to work at it.

Success highlights:
We asked Nickela if there were any “turning points” that lead her to the success she’s had:
- The ongoing motivation of constant changes happening to her body:
- Could physically feel the difference when she ran from a stronger core
- Seeing the number on the scale go down
- Monitoring her own progress with the workouts and seeing how things got easier as she got stronger
- Hearing the comments from friends and family about her weight and overall looks, especially when people commented that she didn’t look “skinny,” rather “strong and healthy.”
- She knew that she is getting older and has seen some people in their 60 and their lack of ability to be independent or active. She didn’t want this and it was motivating to push on.
