Starting Strength: 6-Week Strength Starter Program

Start your strength training journey, gain confidence, and get strong.

Program Overview

Work with a Personal Trainer to create a customized 6-Week strength program to get you started – for the first time, or again – with strength training. This program will get you more confident, more consistent, and help you start doing strength training more often.

Program we make for clients emphasize simplicity and practicality – by choosing less technical exercises, good exercise pairings for supersets, and using limited equipment – dumbbells, bench (no need for an adjustable one, but having one is valuable to allow you to do extra exercise variations in the future), and a stability ball. Specific examples of someone who would benefit from a customized program like this:

  • The Strength Training Newcomer: you’re completely new to strength training and feel overwhelmed by complicated exercises. You want a simple, easy-to-follow program with clear guidance that will help you build strength safely and effectively, either at home or in the gym.
  • The Former Strength Training Enthusiast: you used to strength train regularly but have taken a long break (3-6 months +), for various reasons. You want a practical program that will help ease you back into fitness without overcomplicating things, helping you regain strength and confidence with straightforward exercises.
  • The Strength Maintainer: You want to maintain or improve your strength to stay active and independent. You’re looking for a low-impact, simple program that focuses on strength building without putting too much strain on your joints. The minimal equipment and straightforward exercises make this program ideal for you.

Initially you’ll have a virtual consultation with one of our Personal Trainers, and then they’ll create a customized program for you. Throughout the duration of your program you’ll also have access to them for help and to answer any questions you have.

Requirements

  • Access to the following gym equipment: range of dumbbells from moderate to heavy, exercise/stability ball, and a workout bench (doesn’t necessarily need to be adjustable)
  • Able to exercise 2-3 times per week (30 minutes at a time), for 6 weeks
  • Smartphone and/or computer

Program is 6 weeks. Program starts after your virtual consultation with your Personal Trainer (usually 1-2 business days).

How Many Workouts?

The typical suggestion would be something like 3 Strength Training (also known as resistance training or weight training) workouts (Day 1-3) to be done over the course of the week.

This is a customized program that will provide a clear and easy-to-follow structure, requires limited equipment, and exercises chosen in this program are less technical. This program is applicable and effective for any beginner, or someone returning to strength training, to start strength training – from home, or in a gym. You also get access to a Personal Trainer for support throughout the program.
